The Genomics in Health Writeshop generated four proposals from medical doctors of WVSU CM and Iloilo Doctors’ Group. Dr. Philip Ian P. Padila, PGC VSF Project Staff Level 3 for Medicine, presented 2 proposals from Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH). The research proposals were on thyroid carcinoma, G6PD deficiency, colorectal cancer, diabetes mellitus and hepatitis B. All these proposals were proposed to be done in PGC VSF.
Mr. Jose Joy J. Gepanaga, Science Research Specialist II from Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST PCHRD), presented the thrusts of PCHRD and how to apply for grants. He was also able to answer questions regarding the budget and ethical clearance requirement prior to proposal submission.
The resource speakers for the Genomics in Health Writeshop were Prof. Mary Ann F. Naragdao (introduction), Dr. Padilla (related literature), Mr. Joseph L. Arbizo (methodology), Prof. Ma. Pilar S. Malata (ethics) and Dr. Victor Marco Emmanuel N. Ferriols (line item budget).
