Dr. Saloma and PGC Administrative Staff Visits PGC Visayas for Alignment Meeting

Philippine Genome Center Executive Director Dr. Cynthia P. Saloma was at PGC Visayas on March 22-24, 2022 for an alignment meeting to discuss updates and several issues and concerns of the facility. The delegation was given a tour around the PGC Visayas laboratories located in the Regional Research Center complex where they were given a briefing by PGC Visayas Program Director, Dr. Victor Marco Emmanuel N. Ferriols, and PGC Visayas core staff. Together with Dr. Saloma is Dr. Marc Edsel Ayes, PGC CGL Laboratory Manager and Clinical Health Officer, and the PGC administrative staff, Ms. Sheryll Millette Monzon, Ms. Katherine Raymundo, and Ms. Ana Myka Ela Nagutom.

The PGC Team also had meetings with administrative staff from UP Visayas’s Human Resource Development Office (HRDO), Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE), Campus Development and Maintenance Office (CDMO), Supply and Property Services Office (SPSO), Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development (OVCPD), Office of the Chancellor for Administration (OVCA), UP High School Iloilo (UPHSI), Cash Office, Budget Office, and Accounting Office.The 3-day meeting discussions focused on PGC Visayas’ internal operations, such as client relations, laboratory services and pricing, future consortium activities, and capacity building initiatives.

Dr. Saloma and the team paid a courtesy call to UP Visayas Chancellor Dr. Clement C. Camposano on the last day of their visit.Dr. Saloma also went to the PGC Visayas Bioinformatics Laboratory in order to learn more about the facility’s ongoing COVID-19 biosurveillance operations. The facility for bioinformatics will be set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2022.
