Mandate

The formation of PGC Visayas and PGC Mindanao was approved through the amendment of the PGC organizational chart during the 1342nd BOR meeting held last March 1, 2019. Given the mandate of UP Visayas (which hosts PGC Visayas) to respond to the need to accelerate the development of fisheries and marine resources in the country, PGC Visayas is set to spearhead OMICS research in the field of fisheries, marine science, and allied disciplines. With the potential of such a facility strategically located in the region, PGC Visayas is not limited to the previously mentioned fields and shall strive to support research, development, and innovation in the fields of agriculture, health, and other allied disciplines as well. This is realized through partnerships of PGC Visayas and UPV with the various higher education institutions, research institutions, government agencies, non-government organizations, and other organizations and stakeholders throughout the Visayas and beyond.
