Philippine Genome Center Visayas has contributed in the fight against COVID-19 in terms of provision of scientific advice, assistance to Manila HealthTek team and RITM, inventory of required materials for COVID-19 testing, loan of equipment and conduct of COVID-19 testing-related training. 

PGC Visayas was tapped by DOH-RITM as one of the institutions to be part of The UP COLLab: COVID-19 Online Learning Lab for RT PCR Testing (UCC) together with UPD NIMBB, PGC-Dil, and PGC Mindanao.

The UP COLLab: COVID-19 Online Learning Lab for RT PCR Testing is a weekly 2-day online course in the harmonized approach for the training of personnel of laboratories being set up for COVID-19 by DOH-RITM.

PGC Visayas held its first Training on Molecular Techniques (RNA Extraction and rRT- PCR) for COVID-19 Testing under DOH-RITM’s harmonized approach in UPV NIMBB Laboratories, College of Fisheries and Ocean Science, UP Visayas, Miagao Iloilo.
